by Joe Wilcock on May 05, 2023

On the day that Hogwarts Legacy was finally released on last-generation consoles, Warner Bros. CEO, David Zaslav disclosed that the latest Harry Potter game has generated more than $1 billion in revenue. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will constitute a boon to the remarkable income which will be bolstered even further by the Switch port coming this July.

“Hogwarts Legacy has amassed more than $1 billion in retail sales and over 15 million units sold worldwide to date, and today the team is launching the game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.”

- Warner Bros. CEO, David Zaslav

JB Perrette, CEO of global streaming and games at Warner Bros Discovery noted that the sales from the Switch was an important factor in setting sales expectations, given that Japan has a large audience for Harry Potter media.

Hogwarts Legacy marks the company's fifth billion-dollar gaming franchise alongside LEGO, DC, Mortal Kombat, and Game of Thrones. Not bad considering the rich history and pedigree of the aforementioned IPs.
